Title: Mystery Man Author: Susan E-mail: susanf34@comcast.net Classification: vignette, challenge fic, Other POV Spoilers: none Archive: No archive without permission except at the Fandomonium site. Disclaimer: On paper, Mulder isn't mine. In my head, he is. Written for Fandomonium's Voyeurism Challenge. I haven't written a challenge fic in quite some time, but I couldn't resist this one.:) The elements are listed at the end. Summary: I wonder what he does. ********************************************************* Mystery Man by Susan ~~~~ I watch him sometimes, just sit on a park bench and watch him while he jogs in the mornings. It's become a ritual, actually. Do my own jogging around the park, then sit on the bench by the playground equipment and watch him while I cool down. Of course, there are days when he doesn't show up just as there are days when I can't make it, but over the last two months, his jogging schedule has been pretty regular. Arrive no later than 6:15. Do some calf stretches and run until his shirt is soaked with sweat... usually about a half hour...then leave sometime between 6:45 and 7:00. After that I imagine he goes home and showers, then heads off to work for the day. I wonder what he does. With his long slender body and thick brown hair, he'd make a great model, though I doubt that's what his job is. I suppose he could be an accountant or a lawyer, and yet somehow he doesn't really strike me as being the type of man that would have either of those jobs. Actually, he seems like more of a high profile kind of guy, like the president or CEO of a large company, although I suspect if he is, he's not the type of boss that worries about the small stuff. Judging by the distant look in his eyes and the way he carries himself when he runs, I'd say he's more of a deep thinker and "big picture" type of person. Then again, I could be completely wrong. Maybe he doesn't work at an office at all. Maybe he's a stay at home dad with a wife and two kids, and jogging in the morning is the one time of the day he gets to be alone with his thoughts. Or maybe a private detective. Yeah, I could see that. Him in a charcoal gray suit and dark sunglasses investigating murders by day and marital indiscretions by night. Or maybe he's a writer who thinks about ideas for his books while he runs. Or maybe on one of these mornings, I should finally just get off this bench and go over to him when he's doing his stretches, look up into those beautiful hazel eyes of his, and simply ask him what he does. Nah, that would be too easy. And besides, it would ruin the mystery of who he really is. No, I think that for right now I'll just stick with this little guessing game of mine, at least for a little while anyway. And who knows? Maybe one of these mornings I'll get lucky, and he'll come over to me and ask what *I* do. ~end~ Now this was fun! Thanks for the inspiration, Tali.:) The elements for this story were: -Scully or Other POV (i.e. Scully/other as the voyeur) -Can have Mulder doing anything (eating seeds, reading over a casefile, changing clothes, mowing the lawn, washing dishes, surfing the net, pumping gas etc. etc.) -Pure description (i.e. little or no dialogue) -It must be a new fic. possibilities http://possibilities.bravehost.com/
